The Tauernhaus Wisenegg looks back on a long history, the hotel was already mentioned in 1130 as “Tauern Hospice”. Even then the house was a popular hostel for princes and kings on their way south. The historical ambience is a special feature of the Tauernhaus Wisenegg. The magnificent vaults are witnesses of a long tradition of hospitality.

OBERTAUERN
If you want to experience pure winter sports pleasure, then you’ve come to the right place “at the top” – in Obertauern. Obertauern lies at 1,740 meters above sea level and the surrounding mountain scenery stretches to a proud 2,526 meters above sea level. This makes the town one of the most snow-sure ski areas in the Alps, which means perfect conditions from the end of November to the beginning of May. In addition to the best piste conditions for skiers, snowboarders or cross-country skiers, Obertauern has much more to offer…
SKIING/SNOWBOARD/CROSS COUNTRY
You can find out everything about the Obertauern ski area at: www.ski-obertauern.at

World Cup Trail 10 km, medium-difficult, start directly at the Tauernhaus Wisenegg.
Gnadenalmloipe 20 km, easy-medium difficulty, start 4 km north of Obertauern, accessible by ski bus.
THE BEATLES IN OBERTAUERN
It was on March 13, 1965, when John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney and George Harrison came to Obertauern for the filming of “HELP”.
The filming in Obertauern proved to be largely chaotic. There was no exact script for many scenes, improvisation art was the order of the day. Since the Beatles – with the exception of Lennon – had never been on skis before, there were many unforeseen events and therefore the shooting was never boring.
On March 21, 1965, the last Austria flap fell in Obertauern for “HELP! – the same evening the legendary Beatles and their 66-strong film crew left the winter sports resort Obertauern.
